Breeding Chance Data and Results

#1

Hi, so a lot of people have been asking around “What are the chances of breeding dragons?” and it’s become very clear that Ludia isn’t planning on giving us that information… so instead I thought it might be neat for all of us to come together as a community and figure out the breeding chances ourselves (at least approximately).

Therefore I would like to ask all of you to post in this thread whenever you finish breeding by answering the following questions:

  1. Were the parents of the same species? (Yes or no)
  2. What was the rarity of each of the parents? (2-5 for each of them)
  3. What was the rarity of their offspring? (2-5)

It’s important you post both when you get good and when you get bad results as otherwise, the numbers will be more inaccurate than they already are.

I’ll compile all the results and share them once I’ve collected enough data to provide some somewhat accurate numbers.

I know what the different offspring options are. I’m trying to calculate the chances of getting the different rarity offspring.

yeah i kinda wanted to suggest this in the discord server (and today i also started to keep track of all the breeding results)

maybe the following format can be used when posting those
Dragon 1 (Stars/total Stars) + Dragon 2 (Stars/total Stars) = Resulting dragon
So for example:
Tricky 2 heads (1/4) + Tricky 2 heads (1/4) = 2* Zippleback

My Current breeding results
Tricky 2 heads (1/4) + Tricky 2 heads (1/4) = 2* Zippleback
Hide-Fryer (2/3) + Flank-tanker (1/3) = 2* Skrill
Muck and Tumble (2/3) + Driftcleaver (2/3) = 2* Timberjack

Great idea! I started recording my results trying to get a dupe for my Fireshrike.

Bred 3* pincher to 3* pincher
Results: 21 copies of 2* nadder (forget name), 2 copies of 3* pincher, 1 copy 4* fireshrike. It finally happened!!

All info has been added, as well as the data from this thread: Stormcutter Breeding Results

Please keep posting your results so we can figure out these numbers together

I’ve been keeping a list for May thus far, so here’s what I have.

I just had Gasleak (2/4) + Anveil (3/3) = 2* Zapplejack again
I have been trying to get a copy of Gasleak for awhile so I can level him up. I appreciate you attempting this data collection and will update accordingly with our results.

If you just give me their stars and if they’re same breed or not, it makes it easier for me to put in the numbers where they need to go ^^ So for your most recent post it would be like this:

Same species - 4 x 4 = 2
Different species - 3 x 3 = 3
Different species - 3 x 3 = 2

Also, every post with a heart has been added so far  Thank you all for your contributions!

Been a while since anyone’s replied to this… Please help us out so we can finally figure out what our chances are when we’re breeding!

Everything’s been added so far!

It’s still to early to say for certain but for 4x5 it seems like 85-90% of the time you get a 3 star, 10-12% you get a 4 star and 2-5% you get a 5 star.

It’s showing the same pattern as 3x3 stars. Here the rates are 85-90% of the time you get a 2 star, 10-12% you get a 3 star and 2-5% you get a 4 star. (For this category I have around 230 results, for the 4x5 I have 23)

  1. Knowledge of the chance isn’t going to help anyone actually breed a dragon.

  2. RNG

  3. Szaddaj’s work

  4. Lightfury’s work

  5. Breeding

  6. List of hybrids(if previous sources were insufficient)

  7. You can actually see the results when you breed, there is no point in posting them.

Zip

If you breed two normal dragons, your potential results are all star-matching dragons from both parenting species and all star-matching dragons of the hybrids.
Star-matchig is according to the screenshot above.
If you breed two hybrids - your potential results can only be star-matching hybrids. You can not breed hybrids and non-hybrids, nor can you breed different hybrid species.

People - myself included - are curious to know the rates so that’s what I’m looking into. If you aren’t interested in helping us then you needn’t post in this thread.
