InGen Hybrid File: Pteraquetzal [TEH-RAH-KWET-ZAL] “Winged Serpent/Wing Of Quetzalcoatl” Fused With:Pteranodon+Quetzalcoatlus
Description:An InGen genetically modified hybrid.
The Pteraquetzal is a hybrid of two of the most well known pterosaurs, the large pterodactyloid pterosaur Pteranodon and the large azhdarchid pterosaur Quetzalcoatlus. Despite being a hybrid of two of the largest pterosaurs, it is actually smaller than both of its parents. A greedy eater, it will feed on any meat it can find, from diving in the water for slippery fish(like the Pteranodon) to scavenging carcasses of dead dinosaurs(like the Quetzalcoatlus). Because it resembles a smaller Quetzalcoatlus, it takes advantage by flying in Quetzalcoatlus territory and stealing their abandoned nests when adult Quetzalcoatlus are out salvaging for food. Once a pregnant Pteraquetzal lays its eggs on the nest, it flies away before the owner returns, making sure that it takes care of its froster hatchling. This adaptation is similar to some modern-day cuckoo bird species where they mimic other birds and take over their nests to lay their offspring.
