Dinosaur of the Day #15 - Baryonyx Gen 2

#1

Baryonyx is a dinosaur which lived approximately 130 million years ago during the early Cretaceous Period. This carnivore was first discovered in 1983 by an amateur paleontologist named William Walker in the United Kingdom. At the time of its discovery, it was one of the first carnivorous dinosaurs to have been found in England.

Baryonyx was about 9 feet tall, 31 feet long and weighed approximately 2 tons. It also had 2 undersized arms, a small crest on its snout and a crocodile like jaw that had over 95 saw like teeth. It also had foot long claws on its hands. Paleontologists believe that all of these dinosaur’s adaptations were used to hunt fish, which is believed to be this dinosaur’s main diet. This has been verified with the fossilized fish remains that have been found in this dinosaur.

It is believed that Baryonyx hunted fish in the same way as modern grizzly bears do. Paleontologists believe that these dinosaurs would sweep their claws back and forth across a river to snatch fish from it in the same way the grizzly snatches salmon from rivers.

The Gen 2 has a little more health than it’s sister and about the same speed. Damage is weaker by a fair amount. Still not too bad though for the rarity. Very similar attacks as the main Baryonyx which means it also suffers from the same slow to act with Ready to Crush. I think it is a little bit better because of the Swap in Strike which gives you a free attack when you swap it in but then you are stuck with it for two turns.

I don’t understand why this is an arena exclusive. Especially since it doesn’t have a hybrid. The Swap in strike isn’t horrible, but you have to have it at a very high level to be useful and it honestly isn’t worth the coin. All I know is I feel like I get this dino in every other incubator so I hope it gets a hybrid in the future.

I’m the same. It just sits in my collection gathering unnecessary DNA that will never be used.

No problem. I will go back and do the others when I get time.

Couldn’t work out what the tons should be though as the converters I looked at wanted to change it to pounds!

Nothing special with this one, the gen 1 variant is far better. My little brother did use it for a while until he got epics from the weekly event. I do hope he gets a hybrid, like a Trystonix gen 2 kinda? With him and Dimetrodon maybe.

I also want to add that I absolutely love these posts.

Thank you. I’m pleased. I hope these topics will become a good place to discuss the dinosaurs and everyone can get involved. :slightly_smiling_face:

Never have found a use for my Bary G2. It seems like they were put there to distract us by making us think “G2? Those must be improved over the original, right?”

Wrong. So wrong.

Don’t count out my returning to the Paleontology thread after the holidays. That thing is still live as well.

I do find it odd that by the fluff in the G2 descriptions that they are the second attempt but surely the second attempt would improve upon the original?

#13

Not necessarily so. In a few cases, Wu screwed up the original formula.

Never get any dinosaurs besides such, mag, & lyronax. No birds, nothing spawns, is it just my area? I dont think I’m posting this in the right location anyways but I’m getting ready to give up.

You need to explore around, go to a nearby large park and try to play while traveling as passenger. Maybe be the story will change.

I’m the same with anything from Zone 1. My town doesn’t have a zone 1 so there are loads I can’t find in the wild. I have to rely on incubators and my Alliance.

Thanks I appreciate the advice. I try to do that too as much as possible.
