Dinosaur of the Day #9 - Ankylosaurus Gen 2



Ankylosaurus is an armoured herbivorous dinosaur from the late Cretaceous. It’s remains have been found in western North America. Ankylosaurus was about 20 feet long and weighed around 8 tonnes. It is characterized by a thick bony club on the end of it’s tail. It’s name means “fused lizard”.

Rarity: Common.
Metahub Tier: Specialist.
Health: 4410.
Damage: 900.
Speed: 112.
Defence: 25%
Critical Chance: 5%

Vulnerability Strike,
Long Protection.

DNA used for: Ankylocodon.

So, thoughts on this dinosaur? Is it worth including on a team? Tactics and suggestions? What changes would you make and anything else you can think of?

Not as good as it’s primary species and that’s saying something. Best kept just to create the hybrid.


Anky gen2… Not much to say about this one.

It’s… blue, so it’s got that going for it, right? It’s um… only good for two hybrids, both which are debatable in their usage.

Most prefer it to build Ankylocodon, as previously stated, but Anky gen 2 has another use - “Toothless”… um, I mean Alankylosaurus.

So the little blue wood louse can come in handy, especially for beginners who want a good first hybrid.

Eh not much to say for both gens of Ankylosaurus. The epic is good for its hybrids and the common is good for it’s hybrids. I kinda wish Ludia made them more tanky I guess, like maybe the epic Anky could have SIA Invincibility while the common gains SIA Defense? I don’t know, I don’t use them at all really…


They could have done, but Euo is still the highest armored member of the Ankylosaur family in the game. Keep in mind that I’m only referring to the basic common Euo, not her hybrid.

The other reason is that there are far too many armor-piercing, defense shattering, or nullifying dinos to make any kind of shield useful in the long run. Anky in both gens is kind of a “One-hit Wonder”. If you get in more than one hit on an opponent before dying, you wonder how that happened at all.


For either iteration of Anky to be useful, they would seriously need to upgrade her armor to equal that of Euo. But the extra armor adds weight, which would slow Anky down even more, incrementally. You can’t exactly make all the Ankylosaurs have the same armor rating, because of this. It wouldn’t break the game, but it would mess up the hybrids’ stats a bit.
