Feeding Dragons-Levelling Up

Wondering which is more fish effective and if anyone knows?

If I use a full 2 star dragon to feed to my 3/4 star dragon - he jumps from 36 to 39 whilst only costing me 4750 fish. Whilst if I were to put 5 0/2 dragons into my 3/4 it’s something like 23,000 odd fish & it goes up a level…Understandably I’ve used fish to power him up in the first place but I’m wondering if this approach is better? The level jump & fish cost when approaching a dragons star or levelling up is soooo much. Until now I had been simply hatching 2 stars or 3 stars and feeding them to my A Team.

Feeding a fully 3 star dragon jumps my 3/4 star up about 4 or 5 levels.

Anyone have any stats or ideas on this?
How much fish does it actually take to have a full 3 star, 4, 5 and so on?

Thoughts on is it more worthwhile feeding & levelling up the smaller dragons before giving them to my team? Is it more fish effective?

This question has already been asked before. And the answer to it was: it is better to just feed untrained dragons.
