There are plenty of prehistoric marines animals that could be added, not just the typical marines. We also have some giant or unpleasant fish like Dunkleosteus, cenozoic whales or even much earlier… camarocerus or brontoscorpio. Personally I can’t wait!

Would not make sense unless there is a large body of water nearby

For the map I don’t think it would make any difference. Plus keeping them to water locations on a map would not be right for people in rural areas where there are no rivers or lakes or coastline.

Marine animals will need a separate Arena though.

but well, the way to get these marine reptiles could be like fossils, if you find a fossil you have to dig it carefully, when you get all the pieces of the fossil, the dpg gives you the creature’s DNA and you can create it in your laboratory, too I could use a different game system than the land ones have

I like the idea, it could even appear the spinosaurus with the correct scientific version.
