This happens too often. I have lost more than 150 trophies today due to this issue.
It is a critical issue and it should be resolved before even considering start a new tournament.
Unfortunately, the suggested steps in Lost a battle I was winning do not prevent this issue to occur. I have tried all of these and the error keeps going on.
