Screen goes pink and the battle ends

Especially in tournaments I’ve encountered some weird sensation when the battle is about to begin or just began, sometimes even in the middle of the battle - and the screen goes pink. Then it says the battle timed out… It happens very often.
Is this a bug within the game or are the opponents cheating?

I’ve had this happen before. But it only happens when I exit the app and re open it again
