Summary
  • The name, Brontornis, means “Thunder Bird”.

  • Measuring up too 2.8 feet tall, Brontornis is the largest known terror bird in South America.

  • Like ostriches, and penguins, Brontornis doesn’t have a keel bone. Keel bone is what some bird, such as sparrows, and eagles have to use for flight.

  • Like all deer, Schomburgk’s antlers are made of bone.

  • The last captive deer of this species went extinct around by 1938.

  • Overhunting, and habitat loss is the reason that this creature is extinct.
