Was thylacotator named after the scientific name for marsupial lion? The scientific name is Thylacoleo carnifex. To me thylacotator and thylacoleo looks to similar to be a coincidence

Thats a good info maybe

The real question is why didn’t they name marsupial lion properly. I guess thylacotator sounds better than liontator marsuptator.

That’s what I was wondering. It’d be easier calling Marsupial Lion its genus name (Thylacoleo), as almost every other creature goes by genus name.

It is! Noted that when tyla was released due to some books I read about m.lion

Probably because its more recognizable. The same happens with Woolly Mammoth and Woolly Rhino.
